Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Thursday night I had the pleasure of shooting Calvin Harris at the Birmingham Academy. The crowd were equally awesome.

Apologies for a quiet week on the blog. We’ve got the keys for our lovely new studio and we’ve been putting in long hours to make the studio ready as soon as possible.

We’ve been taking it real serious.

I promise we’ll be back soon, lots of stuff I want to share with you all!

Dizzee Rascal – Birmingham o2 Academy, 17th October 2009

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Very rarely, I also go out and shoot live music. Live music is sort of where I started learning photography, before photography I worked in film and video production which included music videos. In my own opinion, live music is perhaps the most difficult thing I’ve shot. Simply because I have no control over lighting or the subject.

I eventually got through security at the Academy, which is easily tougher security than any airport I’ve ever visited (THEY CONFISCATED MY MINTS – What’s the worse that could happen by me taking mints into a music venue?

Anyway – “He’s just a rarrrscul, Dizzee Rarrrrscul!”

Marie and Chris – Sacred Heart Church & The Old Library, Custard Factory

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Marie and Chris were looking for something less “rigid” and “posed” from their wedding photography. They were completely happy to let us do our own thing and get some great images. This first image is one of my favourites, ever! The actual location was over the road from the their first reception venue and was pretty grotty but Marie and Chris were stars and let us get a bit crazy, which is what we do best.

THE cutest flower girl ever? She was a total star!

I made an instant friend with Marie’s Mum who made me toast when we arrived. The getting ready part of the wedding is one of our fave times to shoot.

Marie and Chris had loads of kids at the wedding and reception (including us) so they put on some great entertainment for them, including a genuine ICE-CREAM MACHINE (straight out of an ACTUAL ice-cream van), which is quite possibly the single most awesome thing ever. Needless to say – we stomachs were not thankful for this.

Teela!

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

I don’t get to shoot as many portraits anymore so when Teela requested a shoot – I bit her hand off. Not literally, that’d be weird.

Teela had the single most rad-tastic name inĀ  the whole wide park. True story. Apologies for all the weird formatting and mixed boarders/sizes etc, they’ve all been edited/re-sized for different places/purposes so…er – put up with it.

Samantha & Daley – St Kenelms Church & Kidderminster Ramada

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Sam & Daley got married in one of my personal favorite churches. I spent most of my childhood walking around the surrounding hills and countryside of St Kenelms Church and it’s also one of the first “walks-out-in-the-countryside” Dani and I did together. Followed by reception at the Kidderminster Ramada (Which I shall by referring to as the Kidderminster RADAMA from this point on). Combine this with a totally down to Earth couple = fun day all round.

Like most of the couples who book us for their wedding photography, they wanted a few group shots but mainly focus on getting natural, documentary/story-telling images. The two images below happened within seconds of each-other. It was such a magic moment.
