We love short breaks and we love England. I haven’t been to Bath since I was like zero years old and it sounded like such a fab place that we thought we should check it out. That AND Dani has this weird crush on Nicolas Cage who happened (not a coincidence) to be turning on the Christmas lights in Bath this year. It sure beat our home town’s Christmas light switch on (courtesy of Peppa Pig) so we thought WHY THE HELL NOT!

We immediately fell in love with the place. I got all geeky when it came to light bouncing off all the lovely coloured stone used in the traditional buildings whilst Dani stalked Nicolas Cage’s past and present accommodation. FREAK.

Then I got all cliche

And Dani got lost.

You know those epic, Hollywood enhanced thunderstorms you see in films? We experienced two minutes of one.

So it was only right that we visited the Old Baths. There’s so much History here which went completely over my head but Dani found it fascinating. We were given these strange phone-like guides to listen to on the way round. Dani chose to listenĀ to EVERY.SINGLE.ONE religiously atleast 6 million times. This was the moment where she got a call on her phone whilst listening to the tour guide. It completely threw her.

I made a point of not taking any cliched photos of the Baths themselves. I didn’t see any point. Instead I made an attempt to photograph all the “I’VE JUST GOT AN DSLR AND I’M A TOTAL FRIGGIN’ PRO” photographers that were everywhere. Here’s a selection of my favourites, if you want to add captions, please comment. This first pair were clearly in competition.

DAMNAMIT maybe if I use the pop-up flash and become a contortionist I’ll get better cliched snaps

This one was my all time favourite. She was traveling alone and clearly wanted a photo of herself next to the Baths (fair enough!) She tried using every surface possible to get a self portrait. From this billion year old bench to a Roman pedestal. At one point, a bunch of school kids ran in front of the camera just as the self timer was going off. RAGE! I could have offered to take one for her but I had wayyyy more fun laughing at her attempts to get ONE good photo.

“Santa” in black shades with an ad board. Awesome isn’t the start of it.

Thank you Bath, we enjoyed being inside you.
